Error diffusion walks the plate left to right, pushing each cell's
rounding mistake to its right-hand and lower neighbours. Atkinson sends only
three quarters of the error — that leak is what keeps it crisp and grainy.
Bayer ignores all of that and masks a fixed 4×4 threshold tile.
