HARBOUR

A harbour begins where a river agrees to widen. Silt drops, the current forgets its hurry, and hulls turn without scraping the bank. Type is that same agreement struck for the page: the thick of a stem is the near shore, the hairline is faster water, and the counter of a round letter holds a little weather the way a basin holds the tide. Cabinet Roman is the house showing of Press Mere, the face meant for tide tables, bills of lading, and the names painted across sterns. This pull is taken only from serifs the machine already keeps. No distant foundry file is implied, and none is fetched. The sheet is flat, the light is even, and the paper is simply a colour.

Installed faces only: Georgia, Palatino — which may resolve to Palatino Linotype or Iowan Old Style, whichever this system actually keeps — and Times New Roman. No webfont is loaded and no file is claimed. Weights from 400 to 700 are passed through with synthesis off, so a face cut only in regular and bold will step, not glide. The corner is marked size. In italic, the ampersand is the swash this face owns, and it takes the vermilion.
