Misprint
A quarterly about the happy accident: the sheet that slipped, the ink that bled, the layer that landed three millimetres to the left and made the whole thing better.Words by Nell Park · Cover printed at 03:40
The risograph was never meant to be perfect. It was meant to be fast: a machine for schools, churches, flyers, zines. It drinks ink from a tube, prints one colour at a time, and asks you to come back when the drum has stopped spinning.
What made it beloved was the gap between passes. The paper shifts. The ink sits on top rather than sinking in. Every copy is a little different, and the difference is the point.
Every good poster is a near miss that decided to stay.
A short taxonomy of happy mistakes, as collected by the studio.
Printed in two passes on 120gsm uncoated stock. Set in system grotesque, tracked too tight on purpose. Bound with two staples and a certain amount of optimism.
