The settler. In rough paper it breaks into a violet stipple wherever the surface dips — let it, do not stir.

Ground stone in water. It settles fast and dries a shade duller, so mix it a step brighter than the target.

Once it touches the paper it stays. Glaze it over ochre for moss; over cadmium it turns to slate.
