Pulsar Ridges

The first pulsar found, PSR B1919+21 (1967), flashes every 1.337 seconds. Plots of its successive pulses, stacked like these ridges, became one of the most recognisable images in astronomy. Every signal here is synthesised live; the audio mode even ticks at that 1.337 s period.
