How it works. Every 4-pixel cell holds one element. Each frame the grid is swept bottom-up, alternating direction, and each cell tries to fall, flow, rise or react. Denser elements sink through lighter liquids.

Sand sinks in water; oil floats on it.
Fire rises, burns wood, oil and plants, and boils water.
Steam rises, drifts and condenses back into rain.
Lava melts sand into glass and hardens to stone in water.
Plants creep into any water they touch.
